Lakeside Lucerne a Weekend Gateway

After visiting the real city of love, Paris for our first anniversary, we chose a naturally beautiful country of Switzerland for our second anniversary. After falling in love with Grindelwald in the Swiss Alps, we went to the beautiful city of Lucerne. I did my Contiki tour in Lucerne in 2009 and I had fond memories of it, so we decided to visit it together! Lucerne is such a beautiful city that has so much character, beautiful buildings and a wonderful atmosphere in addition to its natural beauty and we had a wonderful time exploring its beauty.

We were accommodated in the Hotel Schweizerhof Lucerne, perfectly located in the center of Lucerne, offering the most beautiful views of Lake Lucerne, the snowy Alps and the city. The hotel embodies elegance and luxury and we really enjoyed learning about the historical aspects of the hotel that it is proud of. It was a wonderful hotel and we enjoyed our stay there.

When we finally dragged ourselves out of our luxurious room and incredible views from our windows, we crossed the road to the lake and Walked along the lake in the winter sun, admiring the beautiful views of the snow-covered Alps.

We walked through the old town to admire the Chapel bridge or, as we know it, the Chapel bridge, which is a beautiful wooden bridge in the center of Lucerne.

The Old town of Lucerne is beautiful. We loved walking the cobbled streets and admiring the charming buildings and the unique beauty we discovered on every corner.

It was pretty cool, so we stopped in the old town for a quick beer to warm up before continuing our tour.

On the way to dinner, we walked along the lake. Lucerne is truly a beautiful city day and night. We loved seeing our hotel, Hotel Schweizerhof shines in bright colors!

As it was our last night in Switzerland, we decided we couldn’t leave without a cheese fondue! We walked past many waterfront Restaurants until we found La Barca which had a great vibe, wasn’t too busy, had good views and had a lot of Fondue on the menu. We settled down for the evening to this magical look on the chapel bridge. We took it in turns until we literally could not eat more… I am an absolute gourmet and love cheese, but even I could not finish our cheese jar! I am glad that we removed the cheese fondue from the Foodie Bucket list during our visit, as I would have been disappointed if I had left Switzerland after my second visit and still had not tasted the Fondue. We enjoyed our cheese fondue, but my recommendation would be to share it between more than two people or risk a cheese coma!

Although we didn’t fall in love with Lucerne like Grindelwald, we still enjoyed exploring beautiful Lucerne and recommend that you include it in your list of destinations when visiting Switzerland!
