Potential Indonesian Honeymoon Plans You Must Know

If you are a regular reader of our blog, you will know that we got engaged last June and have been planning like crazy since returning to Australia a few months ago! One of the biggest and most exciting parties for us, apart from the wedding, is of course our honeymoon! Dan and I have been lucky enough to have traveled extensively and visited nearly 30 countries over the past few years, so it is not the easiest decision to choose a destination for our honeymoon! After a lot of back and forth, we are seriously thinking about Indonesia and looking forward to sharing our honeymoon in this amazing country!

ndonesia is not a country that I had ever considered for our honeymoon, but it is a country that Dan went through as a teenager and it is still one of his famous countries in the world. Many factors were taken into account in our decision, the most important being the travel time from Australia, as we now have limited holidays and we have to use our free time significantly and not want to spend half of our honeymoon in transit and jet lag! We also wanted to choose a destination that had something for both of us, I’m looking for luxury, islands and paradise, while Dan wants to add surfing and activities to the mix, as it’s not the best for relaxing!

BALI

There are a whole bunch of things we plan to do during our stay in Bali, including visiting some of the amazing temples and indulging in as much amazing Indonesian food as possible! I would also like to visit Ubud and cycle through the rice terraces, explore the beautiful scenery and go mountain hiking. Batur to see the sunrise we heard is a highlight for many people who visit Bali. After all, there is something that each of us has on our List for Bali, and for me it is to stay in a beautiful luxury villa and Dan of course wants to try surfing while we are there.

JAVA

Java is the most populous island in Indonesia and during my studies in Indonesia in high school, it was a part of Indonesia that we really focused on. I had a correspondent who lived in Bandung, which is the fourth largest city in Indonesia and is a city I would like to visit, as well as a great starting point to visit many of Java’s main attractions. Even during my stay in Java, I would choose to stay in a luxury hotel if we arrange our hotel reservation, such as The Hilton Bandung Hotel. While on Java, we plan to visit Yogyakarta and the amazing Buddhist temple of Borobudur, which is the largest Buddhist monument in the world, built in the ninth century and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. We would also like to take a trip from Bandung to visit some of the amazing volcanoes like Mount Bromo.

LOMBOK AND THE GILI ISLANDS\

The Gili Islands have been described as the” maldives of Southeast Asia ” and consist of three pristine and intact islands that offer crystal clear waters, floating palm trees, living coral reefs and beautiful white sand beaches. The Gili Islands are the epitome of Paradise and also an affordable paradise, and we look forward to spending time, relaxing and exploring the surrounding islands and coral reefs! Lonely Planet has a fantastic guide to the Gili Islands that helps us (and others) decide which island is best for us!

SUMATRA AND KOMODO

Indonesia is a country of beauty and diversity and although we would like to visit all this during our honeymoon, we know that this is not possible and that is why we are certainly planning another trip back to Indonesia in the future. Two other islands that are on our list of Indonesian buckets are Sumatra, where I want to visit The Orangutan, and Dan wants to surf and visit the famous Komodo Island to see the Komodo dragons.
